Pre-Job Brief Mastery

#8 Going The Distance

All I wanna do is go the distance. Rocky Balboa

Creating a new habit is just about going the distance. There’s nothing sexy or exciting about repetition. In the beginning it takes effort and thought— and frankly, it can feel like a pain in the butt.

But if you just put one foot in front of the other, that neural pathway gets deeper. It gets easier. You don’t have to think about it so much or plan ahead. Eventually, it just becomes part of your day and who you are. You won’t have to decide to perform a more interactive job brief. It will feel normal and natural to hear from each member of your crew before you start the task or wrap up at the end of the day. You take care of the repetition, and the habit takes care of itself.

If haven’t yet installed The Habit Challenge app, this is the perfect time to get that extra support. You can find instructions on how to access and install The Habit Challenge App on the second to last page of the training guidebook. Just be sure to use your Liberty Utilities email address, since that is what gives you access to the program.

Habit creation isn’t an easy process, and it isn’t a straight line. If/when you find that you're not having as much discussion during your pre-job briefs as you’d like or as you could have, just pull out those list of questions and start asking. Every day is a new opportunity.

Repetition is the mother of habit. If you take care of the repetition, the habit takes care of itself. If you take care of the repetition, something that you had to think about and make an effort to do becomes just as natural as brushing your teeth in the morning.

I care deeply about your success. Please reach out via the method that is most convenient to you. My phone number is 970-581-7681. My email is sharon@habitmasteryconsulting.com. You can also request assistance directly from The Habit Challenge App.

Sign Up For The 60 Day Habit Challenge

Liberty Utilities has invested a significant amount of time and energy to develop a consistent process for conducting a pre-job brief, because we’ve identified it as one of the most important tools for conducting work safely.

We hope you’ve been inspired to have more engagement and ask more questions during the pre-job brief, but we also know that inspiration is not enough. Creating a new habit is hard, and that’s why this training is partnered with The 6- Day Habit Challenge.

The Habit Challenge app will help you remember to practice this new skill until it becomes an easy and natural part of how you approach your work.

On March 31st or April 28th, Sharon Lipinski will be online to walk you through getting the app installed and starting the challenge. Both sessions start at 2pm Eastern and last for 30 minutes.
